Mrs. Chineze Okara fondly called Chichi by friends and family is a businesswoman, intercessor, counsellor and political leader. For over 10 years she has been the MD/CEO of Chi Okara Ltd a luxury bespoke gifts business serving high end clientele and the corporate sector. Alongside this she has also acted as the CEO of Inventus Hub Ltd (IHL), a company set up to provide vocational and enterprise training to young men and women. Through IHL she has overseen the training of personnel in carpentry welding, electrical, plumbing, fish farming and fashion thus empowering a large number of young men in the Niger Delta where she had been resident from 2014 – 2020. She is a trustee of the Kemela Okara Foundation which provides university scholarships to indigent students in Bayelsa State to study Medicine, Engineering, Nursing and Law. In Lagos she is also a trustee of the Bethesda ChildSupport Agency which has schools in economically challenged neighbourhoods of Lagos State.
For many years Mrs. Okara has also been a marriage counsellor at This Present House and beyond. During her husband’s governorship bid in 2019, she emerged as a political leader in her own right mobilising women and youth in support of her husband’s vision to make Bayelsa State a template of an African economic success.
Prior to setting up in business, Mrs. Okara had worked in GT Bank plc in Lagos. She is a graduate of Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos.
She has been married for over 27 years to Kemela and they are the parents of 3 amazing children Ebitimi, Pereowei and Tamarapreye.
